internships & volunteers
Internships
Geneva hosts a large number of international and non-governmental organisations. A good opportunity to apply and enhance your skills is to do an internship at one of these organizations. Note that internships often have age limits, may only be open to graduate students, and are usually unpaid.
The United Nations Office at Geneva site lists International and Non-Governmental Organizations, as well as the Permanent Missions in Geneva and much more - a wealth of information about the UN system in Geneva.

Volunteers
There are always opportunities to do volunteer work. You may find a fulfilling task that allows you to do things that you like and meet other people. And volunteer work may even turn out to be a stepping stone to a paid job.
